Statement of Ed Dawson

Over the last seven years the IACR has vastly expanded its activities with inclusion of Asiacrypt and workshops such as PKC and FSE. I have been closely involved with this development as a member of the Board of Directors from 2000-2001 and 2003-2005 as well as being Chair of the Asiacrypt Steering Committee from 2001-2004. This expansion has brought many challenges to the IACR and its Board. We need to maintain the high scientific standard of the IACR as well as foster research in cryptology in diverse societies especially to encourage research by new researchers. This is particular the case in the Asian-Pacific area which is represented by Asiacrypt conference which has over 50% of the population of the world. If elected I will aim to assist with the design of ways to meet these challenges for the future.
